Accomplishments and Priorities

I have been privileged to serve you on the City Council since 2018.  Minnetonka’s vision statement, which I helped craft, articulates my vision for the city. “We are an inclusive community committed to excellence where all residents, workers and visitors are welcome in a beautiful, sustainable place supported by quality, dependable city services.” This vision is reflected in my accomplishments:

Z

Effective Accountable Leadership

Maintained our AAA bond rating – a position of financial strength.

Approved fiscally sound budgets that reflect Minnetonka’s shared values.

Upgraded roads, water, and sewer for safety, health and water conservation.

Supported excellence in core services.

Z

Community Safety and Connectedness

Ensured public safety through investment in police and fire personnel and resources.

Improved  public safety response by adding embedded social workers.

Testified at the State Legislature on behalf of the City of Minnetonka for more transparency, accountability, and ability to affect adequate EMS response times

Built trust and belonging through responsiveness, strong community partnerships, and celebration of our rich cultural tapestry.

Z

Minnetonka’s Quality of Life

Protected our natural environment with a stronger tree ordinance and habitat restoration.

Implemented sustainability and conservation best practices including converting to electric and hybrid fleet vehicles, green building practices, and miles of added trails.

Leveraged our partnerships with schools, businesses and community groups to achieve outstanding community benefits such as the Ann Cullen Smith Nature Preserve, Williston Fitness Center and the Royals Athletic Center and community cohesiveness.

Enhanced vitality through redevelopment, reinvestment, and adding 837 units of affordable housing out of 2662 total since elected.

Z

Housing

We must challenge ourselves to create a community where our seniors can age among their friends and family, and the people who serve us, our first responders, teachers, nurses, and local employees can afford to live where they work.

Achieved 135% of the Metropolitan Council’s affordable housing goal for the city.

Diversified our housing stock

Provided financing options, risk free to the city, that allowed HOA’s to make necessary repairs and improvements and has preserved over 200 units of affordable housing in Minnetonka through the use of Housing Improvement Areas.

Provided low interest loans to first time homebuyers.
