PROTECTING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES:

Minnetonka residents consistently and adamantly express our love for our trees, wildlife, lakes, wetlands and streams. This love informs our city’s vision and mission, guiding principles. I am proud to have cast my votes in favor of pollinator lawn ordinances, the formation and funding of an Xcel Energy Partners in Energy taskforce, and a new sustainability commission to help us meet our environmental goals and address climate change. I have advocated for stronger tree preservation ordinances and strongly support the road treatment measures the city has taken to prevent chlorides from degrading our precious waterways. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for protection, enhancement of, and access to these precious natural amenities that make Minnetonka such a beautiful place.

INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION:

I am proud to have been a member of the council that completed the City’s transition to 100% solar power saving the city millions of dollars and reducing pollution. I have approved water infrastructure modernization projects to protect our drinking water quality and prevent water waste; supported sustainable and green building practices during a period of intense development; and voted for road projects that improve not only surfaces, but engineer curb and gutter to responsibly manage water runoff. Under my watch, we have buried power lines to beautify our neighborhoods, and expanded trails and sidewalks to support alternative transportation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for these and other innovative approaches to meet the changing needs of our community.

A SAFE COMMUNITY FOR ALL:

We must work together to foster a sense of belonging for everyone who lives, works, studies, plays, and visits Minnetonka. Residents who feel safe put down roots – sending their children to public schools, starting local businesses, and strengthening our community. My husband is a retired career wildland firefighter and emergency manager, so I have deep respect for the public servants who put themselves in harm’s way each day to keep us safe. If reelected I will continue to encourage the work our first responders have done to build strong relationships and trust in all areas of the community, support 21st Century Policing practices, and insist on transparent communication and community conversations to ensure all residents feel fairly and equally served. We must challenge ourselves to create a community where our seniors can age among their friends and family, and the people who serve us, our first responders, teachers, nurses, and local employees can afford to live where they work.

A 21st CENTURY CITY:

Our city already leads the way in the things that create our great quality of life, from tree preservation, to clean energy, outstanding public services, great schools, and a thriving business community. But, as a fully developed community we need leaders who are creative, collaborative, and communicative to balance growth with the evolving housing, business and service needs of our neighbors, while preserving our green space and quiet neighborhood character. I will build on the strong legacy of partnerships that brought us outstanding community benefits such as the Lindbergh Center and the Williston Fitness Center. As we recover from the pandemic and its economic fallout and strive to make our community truly inclusive, these partnerships will be more vital than ever to reach these goals.

A VOICE FOR YOU:

Our city is rapidly changing, and change is inevitable. In our digital age, I will continue to foster open communication between the City and our extremely civically engaged residents by encouraging multi-modal communications – to meet you where you are. This year, the Council’s advocacy for inclusive community engagement had two substantive successes: the formation of a Diversity Equity and Inclusion Taskforce and attracting 100 highly qualified and diverse applicants for the new Sustainability Commission. I look forward to promoting the vital work of these groups.

I will continue to be your partner and your champion to guide our city’s decisions by encouraging robust outreach and strong community engagement in the decision-making process. I will always be accessible and make my decisions based on the needs of the city, your input, and the facts before me.
